Rooted in New Mexico. Branching out for the planet.

Renewable Los Alamos is a New Mexico–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to practical, local climate action. From our home in Los Alamos, we partner with land stewards to protect living forests, while using those forests as a platform for education, storytelling, and hands-on learning for kids and adults.

🌲 Living forest, not symbolic trees

20 acres of real pine forest

Our pilot site is a 20-acre stand of 10-year-old pine trees near Center, Texas. These planted trees provide wildlife habitat, hold soil in place, and steadily absorb carbon as they grow. Your sponsorship keeps this forest thriving – no clear-cutting, no greenwashing.

🎓 Education & community

Connecting kids to climate solutions

Sponsorships help us develop educational materials for classrooms and families in Los Alamos and beyond, highlighting real-world forest management, water cycles, wildlife, and the science of climate resilience.

🧾 Nonprofit transparency

501(c)(3) & tax-deductible gifts

Renewable Los Alamos is a New Mexico 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Donations to sponsor trees support our mission and are typically tax-deductible in the United States (please confirm with your tax advisor).

How the Sponsor-a-Tree program works

We keep it simple and honest: you support a real tree in a real forest, we care for the land, and we keep you in the loop with meaningful updates – not spam or complicated dashboards.

  1. 1

Choose how many trees to sponsor

Decide whether you’re sponsoring as an individual, a family, a classroom, or a business. Each tree receives a unique ID in our forest map and is part of a carefully managed stand of young pines.

  2. 2

    Complete a secure online donation

Your contribution is processed securely (we support modern credit and debit cards). You’ll receive a receipt for your records and a welcome email explaining what comes next.

  3. 3

Get your Tree ID, photos, and updates

We assign your sponsored tree(s) to our on-the-ground map, capture photos, and send you a Tree ID card with the general location, estimated age, and a short note about the surrounding habitat.

  4. 4

    Follow its growth over time

A few times a year you’ll get email updates from the forest – seasonal photos, notes about wildlife, and occasional stories from our education and climate-action work powered by sponsors like you.
